celebrating your wedding day like your grandparents did.
When we think about wedding days, the first thing we feel is the emotion, the moments that have been lived. As wedding photographers, we are part of a big bubble of ongoing trends that will be exceeded by others a few weeks later. Don’t get us wrong, we love to see which new and old ideas get implemented and what’s trendy – colors, styles, themes – and all that. But sometimes we also feel a little bit overwhelmed – especially thinking of the couples who are about to plan their beautiful day. Weddings are a big industry nowadays, constantly developing. And that is what is transmitted to the couples when they start to write down their ideas. Getting inspired by Pinterest or Instagram is for sure very tempting and is also our source of inspiration in many cases. We ourselves want to showcase our work, too, and give it a label because we somehow have to. But what is really important is – it is your celebration. A once in a lifetime experience, an exiting party with your loved ones. A day where everybody comes together to celebrate you and your partner’s love and life. Running after special trends or wedding clichés is not what the essence is. It’s about the spark that shines inside your eyes when you imagine your own wedding day.
The first steps to remember, when you start planning
First, it’s important to think about: Why do we want to get married, for what purpose? Weddings are one of the oldest traditions we know, and that’s great! People want to get married from the bottom of their hearts, but why? Try to make a list with your partner. That will really help you find out what are the priorities for your day.
- Before you start scrolling through Pinterest, make a mind map of both your ideas, just coming from your head and heart. No examples from the internet.
- Try to keep it simple. – Just like our grandparents, the best way to plan your wedding day is to keep it simple sometimes. As wedding photographers, we noticed that the best entertainment is no planned entertainment at all. Let your day flow, be groovy, be happy!
- We know that you can spend a lot of money during the planning process. There are so many cool add-ons that can make your day exciting. But please remind yourself – you can also have a perfect day with a low budget. (Go back to your priority list)
- Our best tip when being photographed on your wedding day: Keep it going and trust your photographers. Free yourselves from the thought of having to capture everything and everyone. It’s the snapshots that you will be digging out of a box 40 years later. Not the cake that is photographed from every corner.
- And last but not least: Don’t compare yourself to others. Make your day the best of your life!
